THERAPY FOR ANXIETY AND PERFECTIONISM IN WALNUT CREEK & ALAMEDA, CA

Anxiety & perfectionism

Anxiety can be an all-consuming condition that feels like it never leaves your side. The worry can feel unbearable, distracting, and sometimes debilitating; it’s exhausting to pretend everything’s fine when your brain won’t turn off or stop imagining worst case scenarios. We might worry we said or did the “wrong” thing, offended someone, or showed up slightly less than perfectly.

(Spoiler: you’re actually great just the way you are; but we’ll talk about where that comes from and how to unlearn it.)

Anxiety can take a lot of forms, from panic attacks and perfectionism, to general worry and overthinking about everyday situations. I help my clients move beyond the symptoms of anxiety by uncovering where their worries are stemming from and better coping mechanisms and strategies for coping with anxiety when it arises.

Here’s What We’ll Do

I help my clients understand the roots of their anxiety, practice mindfulness and other evidence-based tools, name cognitive distortions (those sneaky lies our brains try to convince us of), and work collaboratively with other members of their care team, like psychiatrists and GPs, to ensure you’re totally supported.

Managing anxiety is no small feat, because what drives it is often learned over years or decades. I help my clients see how much they’re holding, explore where their anxiety is rooted, and work towards unlearning patterns and beliefs that no longer serve them in order to experience:

  • Healthier boundaries

  • Re-connection to yourself

  • Increased self-trust

  • Increased calm and peace

  • Improved relationships

  • Improved communication

  • Prioritization of your needs

  • Less worry & anxiety

  • More Authentic connection to others
